Renting An E-Bike In Canmore: Everything You Need To Know

So, you want to rent an e-bike in Canmore? Great idea! E-bikes are the perfect option for a number of reasons. They are fantastic for a group of varying fitness levels and ages, ideal to speed up your next commute, a great way to avoid parking woes and gas prices, and – of course – they are tons of fun. While buying an e-bike might not make sense for everyone, renting e-bikes is ideal for both visitors and locals alike.

Whether you’re looking for something to get you around town on your next visit or you’re hoping to explore Canmore, Banff and the Bow Valley in a new way, you’d be silly not to hop on an e-bike! If you’re convinced and you’re ready to ride, here’s what you need to know about renting an e-bike in Canmore.

Where can you rent e-bikes in Canmore?

Our favorite spot is the Sports Garage, Canmore. The shop is located at #125B 1 Industrial Place in the new iPlace development. If you’re not sure where that is, it’s right near Crossways Community Thrift and the local high school.

Sports Garage is a locally-owned sports and lifestyle shop that sells quality new and used sports gear and accessories. There are e-bikes for sale and – as you know – e-bikes for rent. Here’s how it works.

How do you rent e-bikes in Canmore?

If you want to rent e-bikes with Sports Garage, all you need to do is head to their website and online booking platform. Once you get there, you’ve got plenty of options. You can book a 2-hour, half-day, or full-day rental. If you’re hoping to keep your bike for longer, you can head to the multi-day rentals section and choose from a 2 or 3-day rental. As we said, you’ve got options.

Pick the day you want to book and your time slot. If available, hit “add to cart” and checkout. It’s that simple!

On the day of your rental, you’ll want to arrive at Sports Garage just before your time slot so you can get geared up. Your e-bike rental includes a helmet, lock, and trunk bag. Once it’s time to ride, you might be wondering where to go. Good question! If you’re a Stoneridge Mountain Resorts guest, we have an exclusive 15% off discount for you. Ask the front desk for your discount code

Where can you ride e-bikes around Canmore?

There are endless trails all around Canmore and the town is perfectly set up for exploring on your bike. If you’re looking for a longer ride, you can hop on the Legacy Trial and ride all the way to Banff. It’s a beautiful journey with an awe-inspiring destination. While the ride is long, it sure is easier and more enjoyable on an e-bike. E-biking in Banff is also an amazing experience. You’ll find trails and adventures at every turn. Though, e-bikes are only permitted on specific trails within Banff National Park, so be sure to do a bit of research before you get going. You’ll find everything you need to know here.

It’s important to note that e-bikes are NOT permitted on sidewalks or on natural and back-country mountain bike trails such as those at the Canmore Nordic Centre.

There’s a wide variety of places for you to roam on your e-bikes, so you’ll want to get an idea of where you’re headed so you can make the most of every minute while you’re out and about.

To make it a little bit easier on you, Sports Garage offers free pickup and delivery in the Bow Valley so you don’t have to worry about that extra piece of the puzzle. This service is available upon request. Get in touch to inquire about delivery and pickup availability before you book!

E-Bike Etiquette

To be respectful of the places and people of the Bow Valley, there are some things you need to know. Multi-use trails in and around the Bow Valley can be very busy with a myriad of users. Be prepared to encounter walkers, runners, other bikers, roller skiers, families with pets etc.

When e-biking in the Bow Valley, always wear a helmet, travel at a reasonable and controlled speed, be courteous to slower users, they may not hear or see you coming, keep to the right and ride single file, announce “on your left” or ring your bell and pass with care at a reasonable pace. In addition, you need to follow the rules of the road when riding on the street, so keep that in mind.If you’ve never been on an e-bike or you aren’t a confident rider, don’t you worry. The staff at Sports Garage will happily give you a tutorial and make sure you’re set up for success before you head out.
